Nestled in southern California, there is a spot that is known far and wide as one of the heaviest shore breaks around for surfing and skimboarding alike. This place in Newport Beach, CA is known simply as “The Wedge”. It’s known not only for its beautiful water but for the crazy waves that it provides when the swell is right. This spot has been at the top of the hit list for our riders, Gerardo Valencia and Dylan Duncan, for a while now so when the opportunity arose to fly out there for a few days to hunt some swell, the boys jumped on it as quickly as they could! They were able to get videographer Casey Reigstad in on it as well so the camera was rolling for all the action.
Lucky for them, the surf report held up and they were able to get some amazing waves during the trip! Jetting all over to hit as many spots as possible, Gerry and Dylan made the most of their time in CA by stacking clips at Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and The Wedge. It was definitely a trip for the books! It was Casey’s first time in CA and had this to say about the experience:
“Our recent trip out to California was exhilarating! The scenery was breathtaking, and the locals were very kind and generous. Not to mention, Gerardo and Dylan killed it the whole time! I was impressed with every spot we went to but especially ‘The Wedge’. I’ve never seen such power behind shore breaking waves. It’s a spectacle for anyone regardless if you’re in the water or not! I’m already looking forward to going back again someday!”
