The newest member of team Zap comes to us all the way from Taiwan! Pan Yuan-Hsuan is a super passionate skimmer who has been working very hard to get skimboarding more attention in Taiwan and it’s paying off! Usually riding the north and west beaches of Taiwan with his crew, we are super stoked to bring Pan onto the team. Get to know him a little better below!
ZAP: Welcome to team Zap, Pan! Tell us where your home break is in Taiwan.
Pan: Thank you! I’m super excited. My homebreak is Jingshan Zhongjiao Bay located in the north eastern part of Taiwan.
ZAP: How old are you and how long have you been skimming?
Pan: I’m 35 years old and I’ve been riding for 7 years now!
ZAP: What are some of your other hobbies when you’re not skimming?
Pan: I love to skateboard, run, workout, and scuba dive!
ZAP: Is there any rider out there that you draw inspiration from?
Pan: Bruno Sá! I love his style of riding. He has a lot of power and plenty of style. He’s always fun to watch!
ZAP: What are some of your favorite foods? What kind of music do you listen to?
Pan: I love curry and candy! *laughs* And I’m also a big fan of disco and K-POP.
ZAP: What board are you currently riding?
Pan: I like to swap between my Raptor 50” and Cazador V2 53” depending on the conditions!
ZAP: Where are the best waves in Taiwan?
Pan: There’s a few spots with really good waves but the best spot in my opinion is Kenting Dawan, especially during the winter.
ZAP: What are your goals for skimming in Taiwan?
Pan: I really want to get some competitions started over here and get people excited about it! The more people we can get on a board, the better!
