The first day of the South Side Shootout went great for the Zap team. Waves were about was it high and glassy during the morning heats but wind grew stronger throughout the day. Pro rider John Akerman skimmed the first heat of the event at 9am advancing day 2. Sam McCoy stepped it up to the pro division this year and proved he is ready taking 1st place in his heat. Am riders Sidney Pizza, Casey Ritzer, and Lucas McCoy all advanced to the 2nd day of the event. Conditions are looking better for tomorrow so check back tomorrow night for the final recap.
