Adding to the Zap team roster for 2025 are the Perez-Cortez brothers from Coco, Costa Rica. These stylish riders have been shredding the playas del Coco for years now and have definitely made a name for themselves. We’re stoked to bring them on and see what they can do this year. ZAP: What does it mean to join the team? What do you look forward to this season?
Nelson: Since I was a child, I’ve always felt deeply motivated by this discipline. Zap has always been one of the great brands I admired and inspired me to keep moving forward from a young age. I always dreamed of being part of a big brand, belonging to an important team, and, above all, improving every day in every session and every wave.
Today, that dream has come true. Now, I can look toward the future with hope and think about competing in one of the World Skimboarding Championship events. It has always been a huge dream of mine, something that motivates me to keep growing. Representing Costa Rica on that stage and meeting the best in the world would be incredible.
I also hope to one day compete outside my country, in places like Mexico, where there are amazing riders, or in the United States. I’m happy to be part of the Zap team, and I look forward to building a great future together.

ZAP: What about you Mario? What does joining team Zap mean for you?
Mario: It represents a feeling and a dream come true that has occurred naturally. For every wave rider, it is a goal to have the opportunity to join such a prestigious team and brand, where only the best are.
I aim to push my limits, train every day I can, and continuously increase my level. I would truly love to share my energy and vibe with the Zap team riders and owners, meet them in person, and personally thank them for all their support.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who is part of this brand and to those who made it possible for me to join what I consider the best and most prestigious skimboard brand in the world.
