On April 29th The King of Lovers Skimboarding competition was held in Cabo San Lucas, MX at the world famous Lovers Beach! Top professionals and amateurs from Hawaii, California, Florida, Oaxaca, Acapulco, Manzanillo, Melaque, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas battled the world’s heaviest shore-break, at the southernmost tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. “The conditions were luxurious and the final was crazy!” said local legend and contest organizer Juan Carlos.
The professional final was our very own Yahir Valencia vs. Tim Fulton, Mexico vs USA, Zap vs. Exile in a final to be remembered. Yahir skimmed brilliantly with a variety of frontside and backside waves that even Tim’s strongest bash could not top! It will be fun to see a rematch later this year with both riders planning strong 2023 campaigns for top honors on the United Skim Tour.
