On February 10th we teamed up with Sarasota County and the Compound Boardshop to do a just for fun skim clinic and best trick contest. The turn out was incredible as we had over 75 kids show up to the event for the free skim clinic where we split the kids up with a few of our Professional riders and Benny from the Compound. There was a lot of learning going down and the more experienced riders were able to hone in their tricks that they had been working on with our Professional riders. After the free skim clinic, we held a Professional skim demo with a best trick contest between the Pro riders. We had John Akerman, Cole Hutchinson, Naji Taha, Steven Bradford, and Zack Carter there to throw down for everyone. They did not disappoint… John Akerman took home the best trick with a 360 body varial that I don’t think has ever been done on a skimboard. Once the Pro’s were finished up with the demo, we held a best trick contest for 3 different age divisions and it was really fun to watch all the kids that came out display their tricks they had been practicing all morning. The winner took home a swag bag from Zap and multiple participants received Compound gift cards.
We couldn’t be happier with the turnout at the beach and the way the event went down! We want to give a big thanks to all our volunteers that helped out all day, Aaron from Sarasota County for making this event possible, and Benny from the Compound for everything he did!
