RECAP | Skim Fiesta 2024
Skim Fiesta 2024 went down at Wipeout Beach in La Jolla CA on 12/14/24. It was a free event that had an awesome turnout with our very own Alex Yokley taking the win for the open women. We’ll be back soon with plenty of media from the event but in the meantime, check out the podiums below and be on the lookout for a full recap coming soon. SESSION | Spider-Man Shreds!
When Spider-Man shows up for a shred, you drop what you’re doing and you check it out. The man behind the mask, Gerardo Valencia, could definitely be confused for Spider-Man because of his quick reflexes. If you’ve ever seen him skim in person, you definitely know what we’re talking about. He has a keen sense of where to be on the beach and how to get some of the best waves of each session. Adding a mask to the equation definitely didn’t make it easy but Gerardo handled it like a champ.

EVENT | 1st Annual Zap x Philippines Skim Challenge
December 1st, I had the privilege of organizing a skimboard contest in the beautiful shores of Dahican, Philippines, and it was everything I had hoped for and more. The weather was perfect with a sunny sky, and the waves were just the right size for the riders to showcase their skills. Over 20 talented kids, all hungry for the spotlight, came together for an epic day of competition and camaraderie.

EVENT | Maniacos 2024 in Manzanillo, Colima MX
The Maniacos 2024 Skim Contest went down 11/15-11/17 in Manzanillo, Colima MX and you know part of team Zap was there to throw down! Riders like Yahir Valencia, Elian Juarez, Dylan Duncan, Sydney Pizza, Machete, Emilio Lopez, and more were there to hang out, skim, and enjoy the good vibes.

SESSION | Team Zap @ Nokomis Beach in Black & White
Hurricane Rafael took a swipe at Florida a couple weeks ago and luckily, we stayed out of its path but it did give us some waves to work with! Part of the team met up one afternoon to get in some turns while the swell was still coming in. The light didn’t want to cooperate but that’s ok because skimboarding looks sick in black and white! John Akerman even managed to get a little foil in on the waves!

EVENT | Alive Skim Fest 2024 in Busan, South Korea
Alive Skim Fest is a rad event that takes place in Busan, South Korea every year. Busan sits in the southeast corner of South Korea and borders on the Sea of Japan which can produce some solid skim waves! The latest Skim Fest just went down at the end of October to an awesome turnout of South Korean riders! VIDEO | Brody Chandler Thompson Shreds Dewey Beach
If you attended Skim USA competitions or made it to Oktoberfest this year, you probably saw super grom Brody Chandler Thompson, @chickenlittleskims. One of those kids you ride with and immediately know there's something special going on. He has that same look in his eyes that Blair Conklin and other great skimboarders had as a kid. He’s a bit quiet but is always watching and taking it in. He's a little sponge soaking up all the angles, nuances, and personalities that skimboarding has put in front of him. You can see it in his approach and the way he navigates through the line up.
